Millinery – Hat Making course – fashion school in Rome

Millinery is the art of hat making, a fundamental accessory to complete any look: during this course students will learn the techniques for making various types of women’s headwear, including accessories such as headbands and bridal accessories. Once the basic notions have been acquired, the course proceeds with the study of decoration techniques, such as the creation of fabric flowers, dyeing and embroidery with applications on a frame. At the end of the course, the student has created multiple hats and has an in-depth knowledge all the whole creative process.
This being a short course, the number of hat the student will create goes from 3 to 7, according to the student’s level of expertise.

  • Millinery course presentation, the history and various trends over the decades in fashion and costumes
  • The necessary tools used in millinery
  • Head measurement technique
  • Shaping of the felt technique
  • Choice of the forms to be realize on a mold
  • Finishing techniques with decorative elements of the hat
  • Study of the various techniques processing for the realization of decorative elements.

Total hours: 90
Realization from 3 to 7 hats (depending on the student’s abilities)

The cost of the course includes VAT and text book

Duration: 2 months – Weekly lessons: 4

The enrolment fee is to be paid only for the first year, it is not required again for the following years or if the student decides to change or add a course.
All prices include: VAT, teaching materials consisting of squares and books, and fee for the final exam with external commission.
