MICAM, the footwear industry’s leading international trade fair, is a one-of-a-kind event with over 1700 footwear collections at each edition, successfully combining business and fashion.
The event takes place in Milan twice a year, in February and September, in the Fiera Milano Rho trade fair district. It showcases the autumn/winter and spring/summer collections for the following year, respectively.
Enrico Alberto Tondelli, 20 years old from Milan, attends the pattern making/ dressmaking course at Istituto di moda Burgo. On Tuesday 18 February participates in the project / fashion show “Elements of Sustainability” with enthusiasm because he believes in a possible present all the sign of sustainability.
He decides to realize the project starting from the figure of the voodoo doll, comparing it to the earth, the life and the evil we are doing to ourselves. He also took up the most cinematic vision of them, recovering the forms from the clothes during the ritual in the voodoo religion. For this mini-collection he uses recycled materials by combining them with environmentally produced natural materials.
He recovers the leather jackets produced in Italy, trying to give a second life to an eternal and hardly reusable material. He decides to show a possible use of recycled plastic using fashion by recovering pom poms from a football team proposing them as fringes or feathers ostrich.
The choice of natural fibers fell on simple and lightly worked materials such as jute, hemp, linen and cotton used as modern and main protagonists of each outfit, to maintain continuous contact with the earth and everything it can give.
Istituto di Moda Burgo, which has always been a leader in the field of fashion training and sensitive to current affairs and sustainability, is proud to be able to present prepared and up-to-date students to the public.
